The Northern Nevada Pride is an annual pride parade and associated festival in Reno produced by Our Center. The festival has grown into one of northern Nevada's largest annual LGBTQ+ gatherings, combining visibility, celebration, and advocacy. The festival is held each September, as of 2023, at MidTown Reno.

History

Northern Nevada Pride traces its origins to smaller local Pride and parade events in the Reno area during the late 1980s and 1990s, gradually growing into a significant annual celebration of LGBTQIA+ culture, community and advocacy in northern Nevada. The first Northern Nevada Pride was held on July 26, 2014 as part of Artown. Originally held in Wingfield Park and Downtown Reno, the event now features a parade and festival in MidTown Reno, bringing together thousands of community members, performers, vendors, and supporters. The Pride event benefits northern Nevada's only LGBTQ+ Community Center, Our Center, after federal funding loss.

Big Bands have a 100-year history of growth and evolution.

Mike Rocha and RJO Music Director Greg Johnson will curate that evolution and share their love of the art of the big band.

Four-time Grammy-nominated and internationally renowned trumpeter and expert arranger, Mike Rocha is a talented and charismatic force in this age of musical enterprise. Whether performing in formal orchestral settings, high-profile cinema appearances, in a jazz orchestra, or in costume singing and dancing, Mike is noted for his professional excellence and integrity.

While Mike plays with countless ensembles, he is most noted for his work with the Lappitt-Rocha Septet, who recently recorded their first album, "First Take." Other artists' groups include Christina Aguilera, Bob Dylan, Lorde, Panic! at the Disco, Trisha Yearwood, Idina Menzel, Alfie Boe and Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band & Little Phat Band, among many others.

This is the second of three concerts in the RJO's 2025-2026 Quintessence Music Series.

Unfamiliar with Elko’s boots? Here’s the story. The town of Elko turned 100 in 2017. As part of the centennial celebrations, the Elko Arts and Culture Advisory Board tapped artists to help raise awareness about the area’s blossoming arts scene. The result: 36 striking hand-painted boots made of polyurethane resin and colorfully painted in tribute to Elko’s cultural diversity and history. Each Centennial Boot stands six feet tall and weighs 110 pounds.

Part of the fun is uncovering the meaning of each boot. Some are painted to commemorate the area’s Hispanic heritage, while others depict ranch and farm life. Others highlight the beauty of the nearby Ruby Mountains, while some show off Northeastern Nevada’s stunning landscapes and blue skies that seem to go on forever.

Carson City held its third annual Murals & Music Festival in 2025.

The project was started in 2023, and so far they’ve kept their promise of making it an annual thing. 

Some repeat artists coming back every year to create new murals. And downtown is quickly filling up with art. 

The official map claims that 73 new murals have been added, most from the three years of the festival but some in the previous decade or so.

And even though the Silver State beholds some of the darkest skies on the planet, more hot springs and rugged mountain peaks than any place else, legendary rivers and lakes with trophy sized trout swimming within, unending multi-use trail systems, air sports revered around the world, and unbeatable wildlife photography with the pros, really getting out there and seeing it all can sometimes require hours of driving in the car to a type of remoteness most people avoid, far beyond the cell phone towers, hotels, and other creature comforts we often rely upon.

Reno’s Neon Line District consists of several art sculptures from Burning Man, including Desert Guard, Rearing Horse, Bloom and SQUARED. Stretching from West Street to Keystone Ave. and Interstate 80 South to West Second St., visitors can interact with various sculptures. 

These Reno public art installations will be rotated every two years, so make sure you stop by Reno’s Neon Line next time you’re in town.

The Sparks Art Walk is a public art experience in Victorian Square in downtown Sparks, right outside of Reno. This curated collection features art pieces by local and regional artists and will regularly rotate. Current pieces include Identity Awareness, which first appeared at Burning Man, Sagebrush Bee, made from steel, concrete and pennies, and other large-scale art installations, as well as a mural.
